From exporting ideas to investing in intellectual property: The Creative Industries Forum to be held at EEF 2026

The Creative Industries Forum will take place on 1 September as part of the Eastern Economic Forum. Experts from Russia, China, India, Indonesia, the UAE, the Republic of Korea, and other countries will discuss the development of the creative economy, international cooperation, investment in intellectual property, the role of the media in developing territories, new content formats, training talent for the economy of the future, and the creative industries as a tool for social integration.

“The creative industries are becoming one of the key drivers of regional development, creating new opportunities for entrepreneurship, international cooperation, and attracting talent. For the Far East, which is actively strengthening its ties with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, this potential is especially significant. The Creative Industries Forum at the EEF will bring together representatives of government, business, and the expert community to develop solutions that foster human capital, promote Russian creative products, and strengthen international humanitarian ties,” noted Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum.

The Creative Industries Forum programme features more than ten sessions covering the key aspects of developing a modern creative economy. Its central event will be the plenary discussion “Creativity as Strategy: The Economy of Meaning and International Influence”, devoted to the export of cultural products and intellectual property, the development of international cooperation, and the promotion of Russian creative projects on foreign markets.

Participants will pay particular attention to financing the creative sector. The session entitled “From Grants to Capital: Turning the Creative Economy into an Investment Case” will address mechanisms for attracting private investment, working with intangible assets, support for creative exports, and the development of sustainable models of cooperation between creative entrepreneurs, businesses, and development institutions.

“Today, the creative industries are not only about culture and creativity, but also a fully-fledged sector of the economy that creates jobs, shapes new markets, and drives regional development. The Forum will therefore focus on investment, the export of intellectual property, the development of human capital, and international cooperation. The Far East plays a special role here: it is a place where the Russian cultural code meets the fast-growing markets of Asia and new opportunities for international cooperation,” emphasized Elena Marinina, Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation.

A separate discussion will be devoted to the rapidly expanding market for microdramas – short vertical-format series that have already become one of the fastest-growing segments of the entertainment industry in Asia. Participants will consider the prospects for developing this field in Russia, opportunities for international cooperation, and the use of artificial intelligence in content creation.

Other topics on the Forum’s agenda include the role of the media in the development and positioning of the Far Eastern regions, the skills in demand in the age of artificial intelligence, and the contribution of the creative industries to social integration, the preservation of historical memory, and support for participants and veterans of the special military operation.

Representatives of federal and regional government authorities, development institutions, major Russian companies, educational organizations, and the international expert community have been invited to take part in the Creative Industries Forum. Among the speakers are Alexander Zhuravsky, Deputy chief of the Presidential Directorate for Public Projects; Elvira Nurgalieva, Deputy Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic; Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation; Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Maria Kostyuk, Governor of Jewish Autonomous Region; Vladislav Kuznetsov, Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous District; Veronika Nikishina, Director General of the Russian Export Center; Roman Karmanov, Chief Executive Officer of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives; Vera Podguzova, Senior Vice President of PSB Bank; Park Johng Ho, Chairman of the Korea-Russia Business Council; Yang Ji, Dean of the Department of Network and New Media, Communication University of Zhejiang; and others.

The Creative Industries Forum will take place as part of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum, to be held from 1 to 4 September in Vladivostok on the campus of Far Eastern Federal University. The central theme of the EEF is “The Far East: Development for the Benefit of People”. The Forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation.
