International experts to visit Moscow for SCO Forum on Sustainable Development

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Forum on Sustainable Development has been scheduled for 17 November 2025 on the sidelines of the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State.

The event is being organized by Special Presidential Representative for Relations with International Organizations Boris Titov and the SCO Secretariat with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. It is being managed by the Roscongress Foundation.

Expected to attend the event are SCO Secretary General Nurlan Ermekbaev, Deputy Director General of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection of the National Development and Reform Commission of China Zhang Lupeng, NITI Aayog Member Vinod Kumar Paul, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation of Egypt Rania al-Mashat, Deputy Minister of National Development Planning of Indonesia Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, CEO of the National ESG Alliance Andrey Sharonov, MGIMO Department of Risk Management and Insurance Professor Igor Yurgens, Director of International Development Cooperation at the Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University Jia Yu, and Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) One Planet Network Jorge Laguna-Celis.

The Forum is intended to shine a light on the current state of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) globally and within the SCO in particular, plans for the programme post 2030, the SCO’s participation in the establishment of a new global development architecture, best SCO ESG practices, and the outlook for joint sustainable development projects and programmes.

Participants will consider how the goals can be adapted to better meet new global challenges in the form of digital risks (cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, robotics), demographic changes, and geopolitical fragmentation.

The event will be held at the Moscow ESG Center at 5, Mantulinskaya Ulitsa, building 6.

It will start at 15:00, with members of the media asked to arrive at 14:00.
