A meeting of the Organizing Committee for preparations for the AmurExpo Russia–China Economic Forum (AEF), which will take place in Blagoveshchensk from 21 to 24 May 2026, was held in the government of the Amur Region under the chairmanship of Governor Vasily Orlov.
Representatives of more than 30 regions will arrive to take part in AmurExpo, including, among others, the Belgorod, Irkutsk, and Murmansk Regions. The expert sessions will involve representatives of the Presidential Executive Office, Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
“AmurExpo is held annually in a ‘one Forum, two countries’ format. This year, the Forum events to be held in Heihe are synchronized with the off-site programme of the Russia–China Expo and the Harbin International Fair. For the fourth year running, the Forum is being held as an off-site venue of the Eastern Economic Forum. This format allows our partners from China’s provinces and Russia’s regions to take part in the business agenda as effectively as possible. At the same time, AmurExpo is confidently gathering momentum. This year, more than 100 events will be held as part of it. Russian and Chinese experts will discuss the development of territories, logistics, tourism, the creative industries and, for the first time, e-commerce and digital cooperation. Participants will be able to visit exhibitions, key sites and investment venues in Blagoveshchensk and Heihe,” noted Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov.
At the Forum’s main event, the plenary session entitled “The Amur Corridor to the Future: Russia and China’s Journey From Good-Neighbourly Relations to Joint Growth” participants will discuss various aspects of Russia–China cooperation, which this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Russia–China relationship of partnership and strategic interaction, as well as the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation Between the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation. Particular attention during the plenary session will be paid to the work of the federally significant Russia–China Business Cooperation Centre in Blagoveshchensk, which was opened in line with the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation. Confirmed participants include Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic Alexey Chekunkov, Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Andrey Kutepov, Consul General of the PRC in Khabarovsk Jiang Xiaoyang, Chairman of the Committee on the Development of the Far East and Arctic of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Nikolay Kharitonov, and others.
“The Forum will address key issues in the development of Russia–China cooperation and will cover the matters most relevant to business in both countries: from the development of tourism and the creative industries to the key tasks involved in expanding logistics corridors. Particular attention will be paid to issues relating to the draft Strategy for the Socio-Economic Development of the Far Eastern Federal District up to 2030, with a forecast to 2036. The Roscongress Foundation sees broad potential and opportunities for turning AEF into one of the leading platforms for the region’s economic development and for the expansion of congress and exhibition activities. I am convinced that the outcomes of AmurExpo will have an impact on the further development of friendly relations between Russia and the PRC, and that the issues discussed will find their logical continuation at the EEF in September this year,” noted First Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Eastern Economic Forum Igor Pavlov.
Around 100 events will take place during AmurExpo. In particular, on 21 May, the Forum’s opening day, the official ceremony will be held to launch the zero stage of the Dry Port Blagoveshchensk multifunctional rail terminal complex, which is owned by Octet Service. The Dry Port Blagoveshchensk container terminal is located at Berezovsky-Vostochny station on the Trans-Baikal Railway and forms part of the Amur Corridor project. This is a significant event for the region’s transport industry and a new stage in the development of the foreign economic logistics system of the Amur Corridor. The terminal will become a platform for the development of partner business, including the establishment of new production facilities, new investment, and the further strengthening of cooperation between Russia and China.
In addition, the opening of the Industrial Tourism Forum will take place during AmurExpo. It is expected that delegations from more than 40 constituent entities of the Russian Federation will attend with around 200 representatives in total, including those from federal ministries, regional authorities, business, the tourism industry, educational institutions and the expert community. The full programme of events is available on the website.
