The 3rd meeting of the Joint Russian-Tanzanian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation will be held on 14 May 2026 in Arusha, Tanzania. The Russian side of the Commission is chaired by Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, while the Tanzanian side is headed by Kitila Alexander Mkumbo, Minister of State, President’s Office, Planning and Investment, United Republic of Tanzania. The Tanzania–Russia Business and Investment Forum will take place on 15 May on the sidelines of the meeting at the Arusha International Conference Centre. The event is co-organized by the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority, Russian Export Center and the Roscongress Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

“Russian-Tanzanian relations are characterized by friendship and are built on the principles of mutually beneficial cooperation. An active bilateral dialogue is being consistently maintained. This year Russian-Tanzanian diplomatic relations mark the 65th anniversary, and in this regard, the Business and Investment Forum is becoming increasingly relevant and enhancing its role as an effective platform for strengthening business ties between the two countries,” said Alexander Stuglev, Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of the Roscongress Foundation.

The Business and Investment Forum will bring together government officials, entrepreneurs, executives of corporations and export-oriented companies, business associations, representatives of the investment community, heads of development institutions, as well as members of the expert and academic communities.

“Today, African countries are among Russia’s key priorities for the development of international cooperation. We observe steady growth in the interest of Russian companies in operating on the continent, as well as an expanding pool of African partners ready to cooperate with our country. Tanzania represents a promising destination for further strengthening trade and investment ties, including in such sectors as agriculture, fertilizers, mechanical engineering, the chemical industry, and metallurgy. The Tanzania–Russia Business and Investment Forum in Arusha provides a practical platform for launching new joint projects. As a co-organizer of the Forum, the Russian Export Center stands ready to provide comprehensive support to Russian companies entering the Tanzanian market – from identifying reliable partners to offering a full range of financial and non-financial export support measures,” emphasized Veronika Nikishina, CEO of the Russian Export Center.

The Forum programme will include welcoming speech by official representatives of both countries, a presentation session dedicated to the investment potential of mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, as well as the development of bilateral trade and economic relations. A business networking exchange between Russian and Tanzanian organizations will also be organized, with a focus on expanding cooperation in such sectors as energy, transport, agriculture, industry, geology and subsoil use, ICT, tourism, healthcare, science, and education.

“The Tanzania–Russia Business and Investment Forum highlights our shared commitment to deepening strategic cooperation and promoting mutually beneficial partnerships. By combining Russia’s technological expertise with Tanzania’s industrial ambitions, we aim to accelerate innovation, attract sustainable investment, and unlock new opportunities across key sectors of our economy. As Tanzania continues to strengthen its position as an attractive investment destination, this Forum serves as an essential platform for showcasing our potential and positioning the country as a leading manufacturing and industrial hub in Africa,” noted Gilead Teri, General Director, Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA).
